This is the infamous photo of the very awkward and shocking moment last year at the 2009 VMA'S (MTV Video Music Awards) between country/pop teen princess Taylor Swift, and Rapper/Producer Kanye West. I believe that in general we had all become accustomed to Kanye West and his outbursts and outspoken statements at awards shows but we can all come to agreement that this one trumped them all. we pretty much all know what happened Taylor was about to accept her first VMA when Kanye waltzed up and declared the the award should have went to Beyonce,

a Kanye shoulder shrug or two and he was off backstage, while millions of viewers overloaded twitter and facebook with comments and updates with questions and disbelief. some thought it was a publicity stunt, some even thought it was the work the Illuminati in some crazed music ritual that some how involved Lady Gaga. The sad part is sometimes as fans we go to extremes when it comes to our favorite artists, many Taylor Swift fans could be seen on twitter writing hate messages about Kanye stating that he should have died for what he did, (died .. really people?) or that Taylor Swift is simply famous because of what Kanye did coming from West supporters. (although i believe that this sort of publicity in the entertainment business can help, its not like the girl didn't already have a following and talent to begin with.)
But through a year of controversy & media play Kanye began to open up about his actions about a week before the 2010 VMA's on his twitter page he apologized again to Taylor & the world for what he did .
Some of Kanye's Tweets (follow Kanye @KanyeWest)
We all know that Kanye is a human being just like all of us and being a celebrity always in the public eye doesn't help much when your dealing with personal issues (we know Kanye lost his loving mother Donda West prematurely) and I'm pretty sure that night a whole lot was running through his mind before and after the VMA'S. I personally believe that Kanye is back on the rise with some much needed soul searching that will benefit us all, we all have demons that need tending to, at times its easier for us to point out the faults and flaws of others than to look in our own mirrors.
Thus bringing us to his 2010 VMA performance in which Kanye was given the honor of closing out the show. I found it to be a creatively awkward performance featuring Kanye in a red suit very low black v-neck and gold chains, featuring pretty peach ballerinas and a matching Pusha T (1/2 of the Clipse) the song rang out as a theme for the ass holes we put up with in our lives not knowing exactly why we stand them (sound like a certain rap artist you know)
"Let's have a toast to the douchbags/Let's have a toast to the assholes"
But lets not to leave out the performance of Taylor Swifts song "Innocent" earlier in the evening, reflecting Kanye and his choices at the VMA's the previous year. In my opinion the song was very touching, and although being so young Taylor Swift refused to act like a total brat in all of this that has happened to her throughout the year, her song rang full of understanding with a notion of - come on guys give Kanye a chanceness. The performance was very intimate at a barefoot guitar totting swift sang
"who you are is not what you did..32 and still growing up.. lost your balance on the tightrope, its never too late to get it back.."
Now will everyone come running into Kanye's graces again? No, I doubt it. some fans maybe lost forever, ( a lot of Swift crooners) some fans may appreciate his honesty and come running back, and then of course fans like me although slightly confused never left to begin with. To be truly honest with ourselves as fans we must realize we love celebrities because they do the unexpected, and put life into our day to day bores that we find ourselves stuck in. At times we selfishly need a little Kanye and Taylor drama, i mean what else are we going to talk to coworkers about who otherwise we would never speak to to keep the day moving. We hardly ever support the stars that are normal, cookie cutter always do gooder people, come on guys we love controversy.. =0
