She is of age , the very reason i should keep my job, the fact that the court deemed her  crazy and manipulative should be the reason you show me compassion, I've been a professor at this school for years, flawless record I've been the reason for many grants, and Alumni donations to make programs here possible. I refuse to resign from a position i gave my life to."

Dressed in her all black Armani suit, very nervous yet confident in the words that she stated in front of a group of her peers and administrators  Lauren stepped away from the mic in the very board room where she had her first interview. This was the very room where it all began now ironically ending here. She knew it was over no matter what her carefully planned out argument was, but she would be damned if she just rolled over and let the system fuck her without a fight.

Is that all Mrs. Whitmore?

"Yes that is all, Somehow I feel the decision was made before I arrived, but thank you for humoring me"

Dr.Oliver slid her glasses to the tip of her nose almost as if she were trying to stare into Lauren's thoughts. "Mrs. Whitmore rest assured that there is nothing funny or how did you put it humorous about a married faculty member sleeping with a student"

"What me being married has to do with this is beyond me but continue"

Dr. Oliver flustered by Lauren's response settled herself  "I had so much hope in you my dear, I expect your letter of resignation on my desk by the end of classes on Monday"

Lauren gathered her things and began to walk out the tall double doors, she looked back at the room
"This will not destroy me"

Dr. Oliver with a slight smirk looked around the room and back at Lauren
" I know it wont"

Outside the long hallway on her way out the door Lauren checks her text messages that were missed while in that painful meeting, looking down at her cell the last text reads
[ I'm so sorry Lauren having you lose your job was not in my plans are we still meeting]

[one last time Gia that's it] - sent

Lauren breathing in the fresh air of a new start throws her phone in her purse "you will not destroy me "
